Hey everyone! My name is Akshay Mantri, and this is my Week 12 blog post for Software Engineering.

What did you do this past week?

This past week was hectic, but rewarding. I had 2 exams on Tuesday, both of which went well. I also had several really big assignments and modules due, and those went swimmingly as well. I had a very successful final interview on Friday. This past couple of days, I’ve played a lot of Valorant.

What’s in your way?

Nothing! I should have a little bit more time this upcoming week, and I feel great!

What will you do next week?

The majority of work next week will be working on Phase 4 of the Software Engineering project. I’m going to continue with applications and interviewing as well.

If you read it, what did you think of The New Methodology?

The New Methodology was an interesting read, as it talked about the developments made regarding the software design and software engineering processes. The article/essay talks primarily about the Agile process, which has to do mainly with two principles: being adaptive and being people-oriented.

How was your experience with SQL?

I highly enjoyed learned about SQL. The way Professor Downing explains it with his many examples ensures that I know exactly what is happening for every command. SQL seems to be a relatively simple language to learn for basic, practical use. I can’t wait to learn more about SQL!

What made you happy this week?

A lot of things made me happy this week. I did well on both my exams, and was able to finish my assignments successfully. My final interview was fantastic. The Dallas Cowboys had a bye week, so it was nice not having to see them stink up the stadium. I got to play a bunch of Valorant and had a great time. I celebrated Diwali this past weekend. Finally, I got some good sleep in. It was a great week!

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My pick of the week is not related to Software Engineering, but rather for Valorant. If you play Valorant, I highly suggest installing Blitz.gg. Blitz.gg is at its core a stats tracker, but it is very detailed and very useful. You can see percentage for headshots, body shots, and leg shots and then compare those percentages against those of other ranks. You can see statistics on not only your gameplay but for overall gameplay across the game. Another cool feature of Blitz.gg is its “Guides” section, in which there are plenty of cool and useful spots to use abilities and set up. This is a fantastic tool that is a must-have for Valorant players.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you’ll be back next week!
