Hey everyone! My name is Akshay Mantri, and this is my Week 5 blog post for Software Engineering.

What did you do this past week?

This past week, I spent time researching tools for the IMDB project. I also implemented part of the API and then initiated the front end in React. Career Fair was quite busy, and I’ve been applying and interviewing for multiple companies.

What’s in your way?

Time is starting to be a problem as I have a lot of classwork on top of interviews and applications. Hopefully, everything goes well!

What will you do next week?

I am going to continue working on the API for the IMDB project. Additionally, I’m going to further develop the front-end for the website. I hope to learn at least the basics of how everything in our project works. I have several interviews this next week, and I hope they go really well!

How was your experience with types, object models, and iterators?

The typing system in Python is obviously quite different than that of a language like Java. Learning about it has been interesting, although slightly difficult. The object model is different too, but I feel relatively comfortable well with it. I understand iterators well.

What made you happy this week?

Thankfully, the Career Fair went really well. I was able to find time to hang out with some friends, too. Overall, it was a good week.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip of the week is to find time to reset. Whenever my work efficiency starts to drop, I go do something else to keep my mind interested in whatever task it’s engaging. This allows me to not get tired of certain tasks, which in turn decreases the chance of me dreading and procrastinating it.

Thank you for reading, and I hope you’ll be back next week!
